I’m floating.
I feel good. I feel calm. I feel cured. I feel weightless.
My eyes open and I can see faint beams of red light shining down through the thick, black water, trembling. How strange, I can’t seem to move my arms or legs or neck or -- anything. I just float and float.
Hello my sweet, sweet Lynn.
Is that you, Zach?
It is, honey. I’ve missed you so much.
I’ve missed you too.
Look at how big our baby is getting.
I can’t move.
Let me help you. I know you must be tired.
Thank you. I am.
I feel a pair of finger gently tilt my head forward, directing my eyes down towards my belly.
Where has my skin gone, Zach?
Skin is so needless, honey. All that matters is you and our baby.
I wish I could touch him, but I don’t seem to have any fingers either.
I promise he is just as soft and strong as you are.
I feel the fingers trail across my breasts and give a gentle squeeze on each one, then trail down to my vagina and slowly insert themselves, then quickly remove themselves.
He’ll be able to grow and feed from you, my sweet, sweet Lynn and when he decides to come into the world, we can make another and another and another--
That won’t be so bad.
I love you, Lynn.
I love you too. I want to kiss you.
As you wish.
I feel Zach move around in the water behind me as my head lulls back. It seems as though I’m standing on the ocean floor, I wish I could go to the surface, it feels as though I can’t breathe down here, then again, I don’t seem to have any lungs.
I watch the red lights shifting in front of me as a shadow moves slowly forward. For a moment, I saw Zach smiling at me directly in front of me, then his face shifted and twisted and shook until his hair vanished, his eyes became bound, and his mouth became unwelcoming. The tongue flicked around in the water and I saw that it wasn’t my fiance, but rather the God who has claimed my eternity. Suddenly, I felt the pain of my missing flesh and organs as God slipped his tongue into my mouth.
You belong to me, my sweet, sweet Lynn.
